In the dynamic banking sector, making processes sustainable is becoming increasingly important. The project at Sparda Bank Berlin eG started in early 2012 with the aim of establishing an organizational handbook in line with BaFin conformance, ensuring all operating procedures and business processes of Sparda Bank eG could be comprehensively analyzed and edited. During this process, they noticed they could establish process management throughout the organization at the same time. The first step was developing a process landscape, dividing Sparda Bank operations into core, management, and support processes. Based on this structure, workshops were organized with process stakeholders and the processes were recorded in their current state, in order to be able to define future state processes later. The credit department was the first focus point for the process management initiative at the bank, as it had the most satisfied customers. Following the first implementation phase, in which access to documents from Lotus Notes was secured, all processes were recorded in.
Sparda Bank Berlin decided on process modeling with Signavio Process Manager, which not only enables the documentation of processes, but also covers significant parts of the organizational handbook. In addition, the intuitive usability was a central aspect in the decision for Signavio Process Manager. Following a brief introductory training session, Sparda Bank employees were ready to start modeling processes straight away.
