SAP Signavio Process Intelligence – January 17, 2023 Release

New / Improved Functions

Process analysis and mining

We’ve improved the dashboards as follows:

  • Each dashboard page now has its own URL so that you can share content specifically. Users must still have access to the data before they can view a dashboard or its pages.
  • More widgets are supported on dashboards: Now, you can also add Variant Explorer and Spreadsheet widgets. Find a list of all widgets available for dashboards in this section.
  • To accelerate dashboard creation, you can now export and import dashboards.
  • To be even more flexible, we added a new filter type: With the ‘Advanced filter’ you can filter for data using your own criteria written as a SIGNAL condition. Read more about the advanced filter in this section.

  • Copying widgets from dashboards to investigations or other dashboards is now possible. Read how to copy widgets from a dashboard in this section.

We’ve improved the metrics as follows:

    • We regularly add more metrics to the library. New metrics are highlighted in the library for 90 days after release.
    • When you configure widgets with metrics, the following features are now available:

      • The autocompletion feature of the SIGNAL editor now also provides metrics for selection. Read more about the features of the SIGNAL editor in this section.
      • You can save the full code or the code snippet that you highlighted directly as a new metric. Currently, this function is only available in the Value widget
      • When you select metrics, you can see whether a metric is valid or invalid in the metric selection list.

    • In the metric collection, the following new features are available:

      • You find the metrics you need faster with new sorting and searching capabilities.
      • You no longer edit metrics in a small dialog, instead all metric settings are displayed in the spacious side panel.
      • Since the September release, we display in how many widgets a metric is used. Now, you can also see where a metric is used. From this view, you can directly jump to the investigation or dashboard using the metric.
      • Metrics that were added to the collection are highlighted for 7 days or until you open them in the side panel.
      • When metrics are invalid, we provide support in resolving them. For example, you can see whether variable values need to be set or if it’s the SIGNAL query that doesn’t return any result. Read how to get support in this section.
      • When closing the side panel without saving your changes, changes are cached and the metrics is marked as unsaved until you sign out. As long as you're signed in, you can reopen the metric and continue editing.
      • We’ve extended the configuration of variable values as follows:

        • The variables that best match the selected system type are suggested. Read how to select the system type in this section.
        • If no suggested variable value fits your metric, you can enter custom values.

We’ve improved the insights as follows:

    • To improve the user experience, we’ve enhanced the insights management page as follows:

      • You no longer work in a side panel to generate or further process automated insights, instead the entire browser page is available for this purpose.
      • When you save an automated insight, you can now also directly complete the additional fields, like status, value driver, or assignee.
      • The side panel displaying manual insights no longer blocks the main page. With the side panel being open, you can still interact with the main page and, for example, directly select a different insight.

    • To draw attention to specific data displayed in a Breakdown or Over time widget, you can now create an insight with a selected range of data. Then, your highlight and current zoom level are saved to the data snapshot. Read how to create an insight with a highlighted data area in this section.
    • It’s now easier to select which attributes and metrics are used as input for insights generation, with the new search field and ‘Select all’ option. Read how to select attributes and metrics for insights generation in this section for investigations and in this section for processes.
    • To facilitate managing insights, we separated the name and description field of an insight. For existing insights, the content from the previously individual field was transferred to the 2 new fields. The name field now contains the same string as the description, but is truncated after 2 lines.

        • You now also receive notifications when an insight is deleted if you created or are assigned to the insight. Read more about notifications in this section.

We've improved the widgets as follows:

        • To visually understand data distribution, Distribution widgets can now display median and quartile values.
        • In Process Discovery widgets, you can also display the case count.
        • To better understand how variables are related, Correlation widgets can now display the regression line.
        • You can specify the format for date and time values that are displayed in tables, for example, in the widgets SIGNAL table or Case table. You can choose between the options ‘Date & Time’, ‘Date’, and ‘Time’. This feature is also available for Breakdown or Over time widgets if you select ‘Table’ as the chart type.
        • On Variant Explorer widgets, metrics of all aggregation types were available for selection. To avoid displaying unexpected values, we reduced the selection to only show metrics that aggregate over cases.
        • So far, only Breakdown and Over time widgets that were configured with attributes could display time intervals as chart labels. Now, when you configure these widgets with a SIGNAL query, chart labels match the specified time interval. For example, when a monthly interval is specified in the SIGNAL query, the chart label is now 08 2022 for the month of August in 2022.
        • To improve the user interface in Activity List widgets, we renamed ‘Expand/Collapse’ to ‘Show more/Show less’.

Widget that has been phased out

As of now, the Variable Importance/Relate widget is no longer available. As announced in the last release, all existing widgets of this type have been removed from investigations with this release.

The widget was used to determine if there is a correlation between the selected attribute or variable and other attributes in the event log. For this, you can use the insights feature. When generating automated insights, the correlation of all case level attributes with numerical values is calculated. The strongest correlations are then displayed as insights. Read more on insights in this section.

                  Process data management

                  We've added the following improvements:

                  • To facilitate quick insights on data, we've introduced a source data called manual upload. With the manual CSV file upload redesign, it is possible to quickly upload CSV files into SAP Signavio Process Intelligence and extract data. Read more in this section.

                  • We've extended the data ingestion capability. With the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud connector, you can now access the data in the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud from within SAP Signavio Process Intelligence. Read more in this section.

                  SAP Signavio analytics language (SIGNAL)

We've introduced linear regression functions. These functions find the linear relationship between two variables over a regression line. They help plot regression lines in the Conformance widget. Using the linear regression functions, you can make predictions that extend beyond the provided data and calculate a trend. Read more in this section.

                  SAP Signavio Process Accelerators

We’ve added the following new data transformation templates and metrics:

We’ve updated the data transformation templates for Invoice-to-Pay processes in SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC systems as follows:

                      • The item and header changes were split to increase performance.

                        • Using case attribute aggregation, every case has now unique Payment and Purchase Orders attributes.

                          • We updated Case Id for Credit Memos so that the full invoicing history can be viewed in one case.
