Workflow Automation Modeling Patterns (EN)

Workflow automation systems typically present business users with a Blank Page Problem: when they first use the software, process models are blank canvasses. When you don't have experience with using Business Process Model & Notation to define models, its abstract symbols don't help. What you need is a collection of familiar concepts expressed in BPMN notation so you can compose process models from larger chunks than individual BPMN symbols. This whitepaper introduces the concept of modeling patterns for workflow automation to make the process modeling part of workflow automation easier. These patterns provide a middle ground between Business Process Model & Notation (BPMN) models and the business process concepts they represent, to illuminate both.
