SAP Signavio Process Intelligence – May 2023 Release

New / Improved Features

Process Analysis and Mining

  • With the new Action feature, you can automate querying process data and set up tasks to run on the query results. The feature comes with the following functions:

    • Set up tasks of various types, including:

      • Send emails or Microsoft Teams messages to inform about or even share query results

      • Push query results to any SAP and non-SAP system using webhooks

      • Start a workflow in SAP Process Build Automation where query results are used as input parameters for the workflow

    • View, edit, and delete actions

    • Run actions manually if required

    • Monitor action execution

  • The Insights feature was improved as follows:

    • We built a new engine for insights generation that can process event logs with up to 500 Million events. The engine not only improves performance, but also ensures that insight generation no longer times out.

    • Now, notifications are also sent to users who are mentioned in insights.

  • The Dashboards feature was enhanced as follows:

    • To simplify page handling, you can now reorder the pages on a dashboard by dragging and dropping them.

    • When copying a widget, you can now select multiple destinations for your widget.

  • For each process in SAP Signavio Process Intelligence, you can control access to process data using “data views”. As we’re now releasing a new data view feature for process data management (see below), we have renamed the existing feature to “process views”.

  • Our widgets were improved as follows:

    • In Breakdown widgets, you can define a value and an order for sorting the data. Sorting is available for column charts, pie charts, and dual axis charts.

    • In Case Table widgets, you can view the events and event level attributes of a case in a new side panel.

    • We’ve extended the user interface translations to all widgets. Now, all widgets show translations when switching the user interface language. As usual, custom texts, such as names for widgets, attributes, and events, are displayed in their original language.

  • The Metrics feature was extended as follows:

    • Similarly to the Value widget, the Breakdown widget configuration provides validity status in metric selection.

    • In the metric collection, metric actions are grouped under the overflow menu on the right-hand side of the metric.

    • When a metric has unsaved changes, the updated fields are identified.

    • You can select whether to perform rounding on metric values and what type of rounding to apply: round to closest, round up, or round down.

    • In the metric library, all metrics which are the default for your chosen system type are labeled as ‘Recommended’. You can also filter metrics using this label as a criterion. The system type must be selected in process settings

    • In the variables configuration dialog, variables are sorted so that empty ones appear at the top. Sorting of the “used in metrics” column sorts from the most used to least used.

    • You can share links to individual metrics.

      • Each metric makes its URL available in the ‘Copy link’ option in its overflow menu.

      • Each variable in the edit variables panel features links to the metrics where it’s used.

Process Data Management

  • You can now upload any data as zipped CSV files into SAP Signavio Process Intelligence. A zip file can contain multiple CSV files of same schema or different schemas. For detailed information on how to upload and configure data, see Manual Upload

  • We improved the business objects in a process data pipeline as follows:

    • You can now save an individual event collector in the business object. Additionally, multiple users can modify the same business object and accept or reject other users' changes.

    • The case attribute transformation in a pipeline execution is now faster. The query execution time on large volumes of data is reduced by 50%.

  • We implemented the following new options in the SQL editor:

    • New shortcuts for quick search and preview are available.

    • You can change the row limit in the preview panel. The pre-defined row limits are 100, 250, 500, and 999.

    • You can download your query result in CSV format.

    • The preview panel now shows the query execution time for you to view the performance of your query and optimize it.

  • We introduced Data Views, the virtual tables built on defined queries. Each query retrieves and joins data from tables and other data views in a process data pipeline.

    • You can break down complex queries into multiple chunks and save them as data views. The reuse of common logic reduces the complexity of a single large query.

    • Data views cache their query results during a pipeline execution. Reusing the data views in a process data pipeline speeds up the data transformation process.

  • You can now connect to your SAP S/4 HANA CDS Views systems installed on-premises and hosted on public and private clouds. With this connector, you can extract data through the Cloud Data Integration (CDI) adapter and also access the Core Data Service (CDS) extraction views available in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

  • The on-premises extractor is compatible with Java 17. We recommend you to upgrade from Java 11 to Java 17 and then install the latest version of the on-premises extractor. Read more in section On-premises server requirements.

SAP Signavio Analytics Language (SIGNAL)

  • We added two new string handling functions to help you manipulate text expressions and attributes:

    • CONCAT allows you to join strings together by concatenating them.

    • REPLACE allows you to edit a string by replacing a substring within it.

  • We added two ranking functions to simplify the calculations in your process:

    • RANK(): Returns the rank for each row in a partition, with gaps in the ranking values.

    • DENSE_RANK(): Returns the rank for each row in a partition, with no gaps in the ranking values.

  • We added four numeric rounding functions to simplify the calculations in your process:

    • CEIL function returns the nearest integer greater than or equal to the provided numeric value.

    • FLOOR function returns the nearest integer less than or equal to the provided numeric value.

    • ROUND function returns the nearest integer value to the provided numeric value.

    • TRUNC function returns the integer part of the provided numeric value by rounding towards zero.

SAP Signavio Process Intelligence Accelerators

  • With the new accelerator Manage Personal Employee Information you can track changes to personal data in SAP SuccessFactors, in the Employee Central domain. The accelerator includes a data transformation template and metrics.

  • Access to the data transformation template documentation has been protected on the documentation website with an extra set of credentials. Managing these credentials was tedious for many of us. Since the documentation is available in SAP Signavio Process Intelligence itself, we replaced the template documentation on the documentation website with a direct link to the in-app documentation. Users of SAP Signavio Process Intelligence can access the template documentation when they have the feature sets for process data management. Read how to open the template documentation here:

  • In the Invoice-to-Pay for SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA accelerator, we changed the event attributes as follows:

    • “Change Field” is now “Changed Field”

    • “Change Object Id” is now “Changed Object Id”

  • We updated the data transformation template of the accelerator Order-to-Cash for SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA

New Endpoints for SAP Signavio Process Intelligence Ingestion API in CA, JP, US, SGP, and KR Regions

What Is Going to Change?

We have introduced new API endpoints to workspaces hosted in Canada, Japan, the USA, Singapore, and South Korea, which you can implement and run in your productive environment. The existing API endpoints will continue to work until further notice.

Why Is This Change Necessary?

To improve and harmonize the SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite, we have started to roll out a new API and connectivity technology. With our new SAP Signavio API Gateway, we can provide the best possible integration experience including industry-standard security features. You can already use the SAP Signavio API Gateway by implementing the new API endpoints.

When Will the Change Take Effect?

The new API endpoints are immediately available in workspaces hosted in:

Are You Affected By the Change?

If you are uploading data to SAP Signavio Process Intelligence by using the Ingestion API, we strongly recommend switching to the new API endpoints.

The existing API endpoints continue to work for the time being but must be considered deprecated. We will inform you about their deactivation.

Until then, the following applies:

  • Created API tokens and connections keep working.
  • There are no functional changes of the API.
  • If you need to certify your API endpoints, we recommend triggering that process for the new endpoints.

What Do You Need to Do Now?

Switch to the new API endpoints in your Postman tool, script, and middleware accordingly and check your connections.

We are happy to support you in switching to the new API endpoints. Please reach out to your Customer Success manager or to our support experts via the SAP ONE support launchpad

Find the API documentation and details on how to use it on the documentation website and in the SAP Business Accelerator Hub
